Exam Information
The CQI examination evaluates candidates on key quality inspection concepts through multiple-choice questions based on the Body of Knowledge (BoK). The exam structure is as follows:
Computer-Based Testing (CBT):
- One-part exam with 110 questions (100 scored, 10 unscored).
- Duration: 4 hours 18 minutes (total appointment time: 4.5 hours).
- Language: English.
Paper-Based Testing:
- One-part exam with 100 questions.
- Duration: 4 hours.
- Language: English.
Exam Format:
- Open book examination.
- Candidates must bring their own reference materials.
- The use of calculators and reference materials is permitted as per ASQ guidelines.
- The new Certified Quality Inspector Body of Knowledge (BoK) will be implemented starting from May 2025.
Re-Certification
- Required every three years.
- Ensures continued competency in quality inspection.
- Keeps professionals updated with latest industry practices.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the CQI certification, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of two years of full-time work experience in mechanical inspection or a related field.
- Completion of an ASQ-approved technical or apprenticeship training program may be considered in lieu of work experience.
- If the candidate does not hold a high school diploma or GED, an additional three years of work experience is required.
