With a founding group of 59 estimators and engineers, AACE® has evolved its certification program to include nine distinct certifications across Technical, Professional, and Expertise levels. Renowned for publications like Cost Engineering and the Total Cost Management Framework, AACE® is dedicated to advancing the field and upholding excellence in cost engineering practices.

EXAM INFORMATION:
- Duration: Up to 5 hours
- Question Types: 119 questions – multiple-choice, scenario-based, and memo-writing task.
- Domains: Basic Planning & Scheduling Knowledge (56), Practical Exercise (29), Planning & Scheduling Applications (34).
- Communication: Memo-writing exercise assessing professional communication skills.
- Resources: Closed book exam; battery-operated calculators allowed.
- Purpose: Evaluates knowledge, practical application, and communication skills in planning and scheduling within professional contexts.
RE CERTIFICATION:
Certification holders have two paths for AACE® Re certification:
- Recertification by CEUs: Accumulate 12 CEUs in four categories over three years.
- Recertification by Exam: Pass the exam before expiration if CEU accumulation isn’t feasible.
CEU-based re certification requires activity tracking and application submission before expiry. Those meeting CEU criteria within six months of expiration can apply. Re certification via exam mandates passing it once to renew for three years. This process resembles new applicants but exempts certain documentation. Certificants must re-take the exam before expiration to stay listed.

- Secondary Degree Route:
Secondary degree or equivalent.
Minimum 40 months of project scheduling experience in the last 5 years
Completion of at least 40 hours of project scheduling education. - Four-Year Degree Route:
Four-year degree or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 24 months of project scheduling experience in the last 5 years.
Completion of at least 30 hours of project scheduling education.
